
Microsoft Word is the standard for word processing documents; we all use it, but how well are you able to navigate shortcuts to make the process faster? With these Microsoft Word tips & tricks, you’ll become more efficient and effective.
- You can delete entire words at once by holding the Ctrl key while pushing the backspace button.
- Were you working hard on a Microsoft Word document and accidentally closed it before you hit save? And you don’t have autosave turned on either? There may be a way to recover your work! In “My PC” search for “.asd” in the file search. Your word document will be in there, and Windows system has the back-up file for you.
- Are you creating similar content for 2 different customers? You can quickly find and replace a name, city, or phrase by holding Ctrl + H. Say for example you have a document that addresses “Mary” multiple times. You need to recreate the exact same document for “Bob”. Simply push Ctrl + H, type Mary in the top Bar, type Bob in the bottom bar, and you can replace every instance of Mary with Bob in seconds.
- Need someone to proof-read your work? You can click on “review” at the top bar, then “editor” at the top left. It will give you a grade, spelling corrections, and even make suggestions on how to make your document sound more professional.
- Do you find yourself using the same words repeatedly? Highlight one of the words you’d like to find an alternative word for, then hold Shift + F7. The built-in thesaurus will open and give you various suggestions for replacement words.
